Specialists Limited, located at 2 Lismore Avenue, just above the
buzz of Cross Roads, is arguably the leader of the muffler manufacturing
industry in Jamaica. Ultimately, they aim to take this position in
the Caribbean. In a time when small businesses are floundering (some
of which has gone under) in the sea of harsh economic challenges,
the family owned business had managed to keep its head firmly above
the waters and has grown from strength to strength, expanding and
improving its product line. Today, it manufactures 90% of the products
it sells.
Muffler Specialists' main operation is focused on the manufacturing
and installation of a wide range of muffler and exhaust systems
for all types of motor vehicles and generating units. However, operations
have been diversified to include other services such repairing and
re-spraying of motor vehicles and manufacturing of grills for private
and commercial properties. General servicing of motor vehicles which
includes:
1. Service Brake System
2. Service C.V. Boots
3. Service Suspension
4. Service Power Steering
5. Air-conditioning Repairs
6. Electrical Repairs
The organization is divided into four departments namely Factory
Operations, Ramp Operations, Administrative/Personnel Division and
Support Services.
The
leadership of the company comprises of Gerald Lacey Snr. who has,
over the years acquired a vast knowledge and expertise in the technical
field of muffler manufacturing: and metal/steel fabrication of specialized
products. Amy Lacey, who manages the Administrative Department,
Gerald Lacey Jr. the Factory and Ramp Manager and Christopher Lacey
who is responsible for Marketing.
Muffler Specialists has a strong culture of family, whether by
blood or employment. It is this culture, which has fostered cooperation
among staff members and prompted them to always give their best.
The fierce loyalty to the company is manifested in their protectiveness
